Addison de Lisle - Blacksmith and Metalsmith

Addison de Lisle is a metalsmith from the small coastal town of Damariscotta, Maine.   He graduated from the Maine College of Art in 2011 with a BFA in Metalsmithing and Jewelry, and apprenticed with master blacksmith Douglas E. Wilson from 2012-2014.  He received a year-long training fellowship in architectural metalwork through the Fondation de Coubertin in France from 2014-2015. He has received his MFA in Blacksmithing/Metalsmithing at the Southern Illinois University Carbondale and is now teaching at the American College for the Building Arts in Charleston, SC.

Fascinated by the transformation of standardized bars of metal into new shapes, Addison finds joy using simple tools to move metal into a new configuration without the loss of material.  In this way forging is unique, and it is very rewarding to discover ways to displace the mass of a standardized bar of metal in order to make an object.
